Virtual Panel Discussion on "U.S. Public Diplomacy in Central America"

On April 25, 2023 at 4 pm EST, the Academy held a virtual panel discussion on “U.S. Public Diplomacy in Central America” as part of our spring 2023 intern, Bob Greenbaum's intern project. The panel, moderated by Ambassador Earl Anthony Wayne, featured Dr. Mark L. Schneider, Ambassador Liliana Ayalde, and Ambassador Luis Arreaga. The panelists discussed U.S. mission in Central America’s Northern Triangle, specifically in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. Furthermore, this discussion identified the challenges that U.S. missions face while engaging in Public Diplomacy efforts in democratically backsliding countries. Among public diplomacy, other issues, such as narcotics, rule of law, and economic/ commercial investments, were highlighted during the discussion.
